Build a gentle relationship with your inner struggles

Anxiety Therapy in Washington State

Maybe you’re noticing anxious thoughts interfering with sleep, or perhaps overthinking is making it difficult to feel connected in your relationships. You may be struggling to make decisions, have difficulty turning ‘off,’ or feel unable to engage in activities that once brought you joy. Perhaps you’re feeling like this is just the way it is. Anxiety is often a loud signal that something in your internal system is seeking your attention and care. In our work together we can create a compassionate and curious space to try and understand where anxiety is coming from and what it’s trying to tell you. Through this process you can feel more in tune with yourself, experience relief from persistent worry, and approach life with renewed confidence and resilience. Therapy isn’t about erasing anxiety—it’s about learning how to understand it and work with it so it no longer holds you back.

What can I expect in anxiety therapy?

Will I get a diagnosis?

How long to I need to be in therapy?

How do I get started?

Just like other types of therapy, we will begin by getting to know each other and building trust and safety. We will work to understand your unique journey with anxiety and begin to explore with curiosity how anxiety has been functioning in your life. We can hold space for fears and worries that arise, and provide care and compassion to these parts. We'll go at whatever pace feels most comfortable as we learn about your internal system to get you closer to the life you'd like to live.

If you are using your Out of Network insurance benefits we will need to have a diagnosis. If you are paying out of pocket we can have a conversation about diagnosis and what makes the most sense for you. For some people, having a diagnosis can feel comforting and validating, while for others it can feel stigmatizing. In general I find that full human experiences don't fit neatly into the diagnostic criteria in the DSM IV. No matter what I will include you in the diagnosing process and we can work through anything that comes up together.

This will depend on where you are at and where you'd like to get to. I work with clients anywhere from 6 months to a couple years or more. Most clients start on a weekly basis so that we can build a therapeutic relationship and then can step down to every other week or even monthly as they are feeling ready for less consistent therapeutic support.

Head to the Contact page to book a consultation, we'll meet on a video platform for 20 minutes to see if we could be a good fit to work together and then get a session scheduled. If for any reason we aren't a good fit I'll do my best to provide referrals for you. I look forward to meeting you!
