Find a more peaceful relationship with food and your body
Eating Disorder Therapy in Washington State
Navigating a relationship with food and your body can be deeply challenging in a world that constantly reinforces unhelpful and harmful narratives about worth and appearance. Eating behaviors exist on a wide spectrum—from disordered eating to eating disorders—and wherever you find yourself on that spectrum, reaching out for support can feel daunting. No matter what your current struggles are, you don't have to face them alone. I am here to meet you where you are, with compassion and curiosity, to begin understanding the layers of your unique body story. Together, we’ll take a closer look at how food, eating, and movement have shown up in your life, how they’ve shaped your experiences and likely provided safety and comfort. Recovery doesn’t look the same for everyone, and it doesn’t have to follow a linear path. As we work towards whatever recovery looks like for you, we may explore how cultural messages, and past experiences have influenced and interfered with your relationship to food and body. No matter where you are starting from, you deserve compassion and peace in how you nourish and care for yourself.

My practice is rooted in the principles of Body Trust® and Health at Every Size (HAES®) because I believe that everyone deserves compassionate care and respect and that bodies are not meant to look the same in terms of size, shape, or ability status.
What can I expect in eating disorder therapy?
Will I get a diagnosis?
How long to I need to be in therapy?
How do I get started?
Just like other types of therapy, we will begin by getting to know each other and building trust and safety as this is the most important part of the therapeutic relationship. We will explore your body story and begin to understand where your relationship with food and your body got disrupted and we will identify all of the narratives that have been internalized along the way. I believe all coping is rooted in wisdom, so we will work to understand how your eating disorder or eating patterns have functioned well for you, even if they are no longer doing so. Depending on your individual story, I might recommend a higher level of care, or that you work with a team of providers to provide you with the most support during recovery. Most importantly, we will work together towards what recovery looks like for you.

If you are using your Out of Network insurance benefits we will need to have a diagnosis. If you are paying out of pocket we can have a conversation about diagnosis and what makes the most sense for you. For some people, having a diagnosis can feel comforting and validating, while for others it can feel stigmatizing. In general I find that full human experiences don't fit neatly into the diagnostic criteria in the DSM-V. No matter what, I will include you in the diagnosing process and we can work through anything that comes up together.
This will depend on where you are at and where you'd like to get to. I work with clients anywhere from 6 months to two years or longer. Most clients start on a weekly basis so that we can build a therapeutic relationship and then can step down to every other week or even monthly as they are feeling ready for less consistent therapeutic support.
Head to the Contact page to book a consultation, we'll meet on a video platform for 20 minutes to see if we could be a good fit to work together and then get a session scheduled. If for any reason we aren't a good fit I'll do my best to provide referrals for you. I look forward to meeting you!
